PROJECT SMILE

Year: 2021 | Location: GHANA SOCIETY FOR THE SOCIALLY DISADVANTAGED | Type: DISABILITY AID AND SOCIAL SUPPORT

Marking our 5th year anniversary, we looked to put a SMILE on the faces of the students of the GHANA SOCIETY FOR THE SOCIALLY DISADVANTAGED.Ghana Society for the Socially Disadvantaged is a school located at North Kaneshie, Bubashie roundabout, around Cocoa clinic in Accra Ghana . It is a boarding facility that provides vocational skills to the youth who may be socially disadvantaged. Students enrolled include youth with autism, visually impaired youth and youth with physical disabilities. It is a 3 year program however due to the slow pace of their students it may exceed the three years. Some of the vocational lessons given include : dressmaking , bead making , tailoring , etc .Depending solely on donations and partial government support, the school faced many challenges which impeded the growth and continuity in the good works they are doing. PROJECT SMILE by Smile was then launched to challenge us in providing necessities which could go a long way to improve the day to day activities of the school. With the support of volunteers and the general public, SMILE was able provide items such as provisions, toiletries, handcraft materials (beads, threads, leather, etc.), food stuff and assistive devices such as wheelchairs & crutches
